Information on The
Spider Catcher

If you dislike spiders or
other insects in your house and want to remove them
without harm then all you need is the Spider Catcher. It
works by surrounding the spider with bristles that close
around the spider, the bristles harmlessly trap the
spider, to allow you to pick up and release the spider
outside. Every home should have one!
The Spider Catcher is
also ideal
for collectors of butterflies, moths, scorpions,
spiders, wasps, beetles, bees, ants, bugs, caterpillars
and other insects - both flying and crawling.

How can I catch
spiders and insects?
The Spider Catcher has a trigger at one end that
operates the bristles at the other end; it is approx
65cm (25.6 inches) in length to allow you to approach
the spider at a safe distance.

How does the Spider
Catcher work?
To pick up the spider you need to do the following:
1 - Squeeze the lever so the bristles open.
2 - Position the open bristles over the spider.
3 - Swiftly release the lever so the bristles close.
4 - Pull the captive spider away from the surface.
5 - To release the spider squeeze the lever so the
bristles reopen.

Can I catch a
Spider when it’s moving?
Yes, the gentle bristles allow you to catch spiders and
insects when they are moving.

How long is the
Spider Catcher?
The Spider Catcher is about 65cm (25.6 inches) long. The
average person's arm length is 65cm (25.6 inches), so you can
estimate your body being about 1.3m (4ft) from the
Spider.

Can the Spider Catcher
pick up smaller spiders?
The Spider Catcher can pick up insects as small as an
ant (2mm) and insects up to 25mm (1 inch) in body
length; this more than covers the average population of
spiders and insects in Southern Africa.
When you capture a spider, they generally curl up as a
defence mechanism. Always make sure you pick up the
spider correctly i.e. making sure that all the bristles
surround and catch the spider. To perfect your
technique, practice using the fake plastic spider
supplied to pick up from awkward places eg. tight
corners and under furniture.
Are the spiders
and insects really unharmed?
One of the main reason for the invention.
Can I reach the
ceiling with it?
If you are 1.5m (5ft), with the extra 1.2m (4ft) reach
mentioned above then you can easily reach a 2.7m (9ft)
ceiling.
Can I catch
other bugs or insects with it?
A resounding yes! The Spider Catcher's applications are
endless. It will actually pick up a strand of hair from
a table, rendering it sensitive enough for use in
laboratories. As well as Spiders we have caught wasps,
bees, moths, butterflies, beetles and even scorpions.
This is an essential
tool for professional entomologists and amateur
collectors of butterflies, scorpions, spiders and many other
insects.
