Distinguished from slightly larger Village Weaver by plain (not
blotched) back. Separated from smaller Lesser Masked-Weaver by red
(not whitish-yellow) eyes, heavier bill, yellow (not black) crown
and brownish-pink (not grey) legs.
Lacks black face mask; similar to F with red-brown eyes and
considerable variation in shades of plumage.
Yellow-buff above, throat and breast yellowish. Non-br birds paler
below with whitish belly.
Resembles non-br F.
Common resident. Gregarious and sedentary, but partially migratory
Open savanna, especially Acacia.
Insects, seeds, plant material and nectar.
