  Lark-like Bunting

 

Emberiza impetuani

(887) 15 cm; 15 g

SEXES  Alike. Nondescript brownish bird, no bold diagnostic features. Pale eyebrow and cinnamon wash to underparts.

JUV  Similar to ad but slightly paler.

STATUS  Very common near-endemic in dry west; highly nomadic. Usually gregarious; in loose flocks from a few birds to hundreds.

HABITAT  Arid and semi-arid open, usually stony, dry sparse shrublands, grassland and watercourses.

FOOD  Mainly seeds; also some insects.

CALL  Short monotonous canary-like song.

BR  Monogamous. Shallow cup nest built by F; placed behind rock or tuft of grass.
