Alike. White rump and belly diagnostic. Reddish eyes and scalloped
plumage separate it from Arrow-marked Babbler (with streaked plumage
and orange eyes).
ad but paler on throat.
Locally common resident, usually occurring in small groups of about
5-8 birds during br season, and 5-15 in non-br season.
Woodland adjacent to papyrus swamps, reedbeds, streams and rivers.
Insects recorded, but little known about diet.
Sustained nasal pa, pa, pa, pa... call (similar to Black-faced
Babbler) and various other harsh notes.
Probably monogamous, br co-operatively. Nest an untidy bulky cup 1-4
m above ground. Parasitised by Levaillant's Cuckoo.
